What is absolutely off limits in the halls?
Food and glass bottled beverages, weapons, recording devices, carpets, tables. Pillows up to 60cmx60cm are allowed for the floor seats at the 3 Day Teaching. Pillows are not allowed at the Public Talk.

At what time should I arrive at the halls?
For the Public Talk and the first day of the Teaching, we recommend you arrive on site an hour and a half before the event. On the following days, an hour before in the morning and half an hour in the afternoon should be sufficient. Bear in mind that His Holiness quite often starts teaching 10 to 15 minutes ahead of schedule...

Important information on the 3 Day Teaching tickets:
For security reason, tickets are numbered and nominal. Identity will be checked at the entrance. You should carry a valid Passport or Identity Card.
Keep your ticket in a safe place. Make sure the ticket is protected against humidity, soiling, damage as well as optical or mechanical effects.
Tickets will not be exchanged nor taken back. For details, please refer to our GTB (General Terms of Business).
During the 3 Day Teaching and for safety reasons, the tickets shall be carried by the participants in a visible manner, i.e. around the neck, on the plastic pouches supplied. The participants will have to carry it with them throughout the duration of the event.
Tickets are personal. If you want to give your ticket to someone else, you should inform the organization of the change of the holder name by e-mail: office@dalailamalisboa2007.com.

Is there a ticket price reduction for students, senior citizens, or handicapped?
We regret to say that we are unable to offer rebates for students, adolescents or unemployed persons but seats for the Public Talk are now being made available at 10 € on balcony no. 2. For the Teaching, in case of serious and constringent financial difficulties we suggest you contact our office by letter or email (office@dalailamalisboa2007.com)

Is my ticket the definite one?
Yes. If somebody else has purchased the ticket on your behalf, we recommend that you enrol for our e-mail newsletter.

How do I know where I shall be seated?
Hostesses will help you find your sitting area; except for area A and B of the Public Talk, where seats are numbered, in all other areas seating is provided on a first come first serve basis.

What do I do to sit close to the Dalai Lama?
1) To buy a ticket as soon as possible in an area as close as possible to the stage.
2) To arrive early at the hall in order to be able to choose a seat as close to the stage as possible (within the area of your seat).

How can I have a sponsor invitation?

Are the seats numbered or is it "first come first served" in the hall?
Seats are not numbered, so it is "first come first served" within each area. However tickets are numbered for security reason.

Shall I be able to see the Dalai Lama also from the rear of the hall?
At the Public Talk, a large projection screen will assure that the Dalai Lama will also be well visible from the far rear.
At the 3 Day Teaching, the hall is small enough so the Dalai Lama is visible from the rear.

Are the Halls covered?
Yes.

What about translation?
H.H. Dalai Lama will speak Tibetan or English. At the Public Conference (Pavilhão Atlântico, Sept 16th.), there will be consecutive translations to English and Portuguese. At the Teaching (Sept. 13th, 14th and 15th, at the Auditório da faculdade de Medicina Dentária), there will be translations to Portuguese (loudspeakers), English, French and Spanish (earphones). The equipment will be released against an id and cash deposit.

May I give my ticket to a friend?
The tickets are transferable. For the 3 Day Teaching, you should inform the organization of the change of the holder’s name by e-mail: office@dalailamalisboa2007.com.

How many seats are available?
At the Public Talk, there is room for up to 6.000 people.
At the 3 Day Teaching, there is room for up to 1.200 people (chairs and floor space).

Should I take off my shoes at the entrance?
For the 3 Day Teaching, we will invite the participants on the floor seats only to take off the shoes at the entrance. Bags will be supplied by the organization in order that participants may carry the shoes with them.
For the Public Talk, you should keep your shoes on.

Is there any meal support for the 3 Day Teaching?
It is now confirmed that vegetarian meals will be served at the nearby university cantina during the three days of teaching. The 3 day meal voucher costs 20 euros and will be on sale on the morning of the first day of the teachings only.

What about children under 6?
For the comfort of participants, we do not recommend to take children under 6 for the 3 Day Teaching.
You should rather take children under 6 to the Public Talk.
There will be no crèche available in none of the venues.

Is there any support for people in wheel chairs?
Both venues have the standard conditions for wheel chairs, i.e. special seats, special toilets, special parking lots. Please send an e-mail to office@dalailamalisbon2007.com to reserve your special seat and have adequate support.

Are there any books you recommend in preparation for the event?
The root text for the teaching is “Bodhicharyavatara – Shantideva's Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life”.

Send an e-mail to office@dalailamalisbon2007.com and you will receive the corresponding enrolment form. Volunteers will have to buy a ticket for all events. We regret not to be able to offer any free tickets in return for your work.
